Consultation & Supervision for Therapists

Supervision and Consultation

You’re working in private practice and aware of how isolated you are. You’re used to being able to connect with colleagues in the hallways or having regular case consultation. Maybe you knew right from the start that you wanted to be in regular supervision or maybe you felt great about the work you were doing but you’re starting to wonder if you’re seeing things as clearly as you once were.

I deeply value supervision/consultation and regularly engage in my own. We can’t do this work alone, nor should we! Private practice is exhilarating and fun! We get to be bold, creative, and practice with freedom- yet, it can also be isolating and lonely and leave us second guessing ourselves. That contributes to burnout, crises of confidence and reduced quality of care. Without a connection to a trusted supervisor or consultant, we can get lost in our own internal feedback loop, doubting ourselves, or making decisions we’re not 100% confident in.

Learning different theoretical models, interventions, and being certified in various methods is a wonderful part of being a therapist, but your best tool is YOU.

I want to help you use what you bring to the table as a therapist to better connect with your work. I listen for your strengths and help you to amplify them. I will also offer alternative frameworks, explore your use of self in the therapy sessions, and help problem-solve difficult cases.

“I have found clinical supervision with SuMing to be incredibly beneficial to my practice and to my own growth as a clinician. Before SuMing, I was used to supervision where we would go through a list of clients, talking about what would help each one, staying mostly on the surface of what was happening. Her supervision is so much deeper! SuMing is gifted at guiding people to look within; and instead of just staying on the surface, I have been able to gain deep insight into how I respond to each client, including what comes up for me and how my own experiences and struggles affect my relationships with clients. I highly recommend SuMing for clinical supervision, particularly if you are looking for greater self-awareness and deeper, longer-lasting client relationships!”

“If you are nervous about taking the plunge into private practice and seeking some reassurance and ego buildup then look no further. SuMing combines her naturally easy and calming ways with her thorough knowledge of creating a successful private practice and will put your fears and anxieties to rest.

“When I started back as an outpatient therapist after a 4-year break to start my family, I was plagued by imposter syndrome. SuMing helped me move through that stuck place to find confidence in my unique strengths.

As a supervisor, SuMing did not coach me to replicate her style but instead helped me more fully become myself as a clinician. She is professional and warm and I look forward to meeting with her every time. I would highly recommend working with her as a supervisor.
