Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

I accept most PPO and plans with out-of-network benefits. If you plan to use your insurance benefit, you will need to verify your insurance prior to our first meeting. If you plan to use your out-of-network benefits, I will gladly provide you with a super bill to submit for reimbursement.

do I have “out-of-Network” Coverage?

Since insurance providers and plans vary in their coverage, please call the member number listed on your insurance card and ask the following questions:

  • Am I covered for individual and/or couples counseling?

  • Am I covered to see an “out-of-network” provider or only “in-network?”

  • Do I have a deductible, and if so, how much is it?

  • What percentage of the fee is reimbursed?

Why choose to pay out-of-pocket?

Some people prefer to pay out of pocket or privately for a number of reasons. Paying privately allows you greater freedom and choice in your health care because the insurance company is not dictating the treatment plan. Additionally, if paying privately, a mental health diagnosis is not required and your clinician does not have to prove that treatment is a "medical necessity." This means a mental health diagnosis will not become part of your medical record and stay with you throughout your life.

What is a good faith estimate?

As of 2021, under law, health care providers are need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

do you offer in-person or online appointments?

Both! When you inquire, please let me know if you prefer to meet online or in person. If in person, we will meet at my office in Arlington, MA. If you prefer to meet online, I will send you the Zoom link in my welcome email. I recommend when clients do their Zoom call, they find a private place and use headphones if there is any concern for privacy.

How often do you have openings?

It really depends! Sometimes the stars align and I have an immediate opening, and other times it can be 2-3 months or longer.

I’m not ready for therapy but I want to stay connected, what can I do?

That’s great! Feel free to check out my resource page for books, podcasts, and other materials I recommend!

Also check out my Instagram account- please note this is not a replacement for therapy. I cannot guarantee your privacy if you like or comment on anything. I do not follow individuals nor do I respond to DMs.

What are your fees and how long are appointments?

For individual sessions, the first appointment is $250 and about 55 minutes. Follow-up appointments are $225 and are about 50 minutes.

For couples, the first appointment is $275 and about 60 minutes. The next two follow-up appointments are individual assessment sessions and they are $250 and last about 55 minutes. Follow-up appointments for couples therapy are $250.

I readjust my fees annually to reflect market and cost of living increases.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept check, credit card and FSA/HSA cards.

I currently use IvyPay which is a payment system designed specifically for therapists. It stores your credit card information conveniently and securely. At our initial appointment I will send you a text message where you will input your credit card info and I will charge your card after each session.
